How We Work: Branding, Content, and Consultancy Within Your Team

CTRL Digital is a marketing studio and consultancy for consumer brands. We offer three services: branding, content and social media management, and marketing consultancy, and we deliver all three the same way, from inside a brand's own team, not as an outsourced function run from the outside.

What services does we offer?

Three: branding, content and social media management, and marketing consultancy for consumer brands. Plenty of agencies offer some combination of the same three. What sets us apart isn't the service list, it's how the work gets made.

How do we work within a brand's team?

CTRL sits in the conversations that shape a launch, not just the briefing call after the launch is already set. We see the constraints, a supplier delay, a founder's gut call, a distributor's feedback from last week, and factor them into the work, instead of executing a brief that was accurate when it was written and less accurate with every day that passes.

A brief tells a team what to make. Sitting with the brand tells them why it matters. The output can look identical on a deck. It rarely performs the same.

Why doesn't a standard agency work this way?

Agencies are built to serve many clients efficiently: intake form, brief, production, delivery, review cycle. That's a sound model for categories where the product and message don't move much month to month.

Consumer brands don't sit still in the same way. A supplier is delayed, a market opens, a competitor moves and needs a same-week response. A brief-and-deliver cycle isn't built for that cadence: by the time a brief is approved, the moment it was written for has often passed.

This isn't a knock on agencies as a model. It's a mismatch between what the model is built for and what this category needs.

Does the model change across branding, content, or consultancy?

No. The service changes, the model doesn't. For branding, the people shaping how a brand looks and sounds have sat in the room for the decisions that made it what it is, not just received a brand book after the fact. For content and social media management, whoever's posting and producing knows what happened in the business this week, not just what was on last month's content calendar. For consultancy, the advice is grounded in what's happening day to day, not built from a handful of scoping calls.

Every service comes back to the same thing: work made by someone accountable to the brand's reality, not to a brief.

What does this cost compared to a standard retainer?

Cost depends on scope, and any consultancy quoting a flat number without knowing what you need is guessing. What holds regardless of scope is the pricing logic: you're paying for a level of input, how close, how responsive, how much strategic ownership, not a count of deliverables. A retainer priced by deliverable count incentivises volume. A retainer priced by input level incentivises the right response to whatever the week needs.

In return: someone who moves at the speed of your decisions, not the speed of a review cycle, and who's accountable for outcomes, not just outputs.

Is this the right fit for your brand?

A few signs it's worth the conversation:

  • Briefs keep needing revision because whoever wrote the brief wasn't close enough to the decision to get it right the first time.

  • Your best content ideas come from internal Slack messages that never make it into a formal brief.

  • You've got a strong visual identity but nothing that sounds like an actual person from your brand: no hosted or talking-head content, no point of view.

  • Your team spends more time managing the agency relationship than the agency saves them.

If none of that sounds familiar, a standard project-based agency relationship might genuinely be the better fit. Not every brand needs this. But if it does sound familiar, that's the conversation worth having.

FAQ

What does CTRL Digital do? CTRL offers three services: branding, content and social media management, and marketing consultancy for consumer and F&B brands, delivered from inside the brand's own team rather than as an outsourced function.

What's the difference between CTRL and a typical marketing agency? A typical agency takes a brief and returns deliverables, built to serve many clients through a standardised process. CTRL sits inside the brand's own decision-making, closer to how a senior in-house hire works, without the full-time headcount.

Is CTRL more expensive than a standard agency retainer? Not inherently. Cost depends on scope and level of input, not on the model itself. What changes is what you're paying for: proximity and speed versus process and scale.

Does CTRL replace an in-house marketing team? No, it typically works alongside one, or fills the gap before a brand is ready to hire in-house. Many teams keep day-to-day posting and scheduling in-house and hand strategy, production, and quality control to CTRL.
